Atsushi will join the University of Maryland in August 2026 as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology, with affiliations in the Brain and Behavior Institute and the Neuroscience and Cognitive Science Program.

He received his PhD from the University of Oregon with Ulrich Mayr and completed his postdoctoral training with David Badre at Brown University, while also being affiliated with the RIKEN Center for Brain Science in Japan.
